Hey all! Hope everyone's holding in there.

So I'm gonna get right to the point- or rather a few of them.

FIRSTLY: Casual reminder to follow me on other social media lmao! I will still be posting everything major to DA, but I'm working into being more active elsewhere, as this website has only become more and more difficult and frustrating to use. The last thing I wanted to do was move off site, as DA is where the entirety of my focus, audience, and passion has been for the last 5 years. I worked so hard here, and having to start all over is crushing, but it's more infuriating to continue to be unheard by this platform and watch everyone evaporate because of it.

SECONDLY: I will NOT be taking Points as payment anymore, unless explicitly stated. I'm not even sure that anyone's buying points right now, but given DA's recent change in policy-- AKA you need Core to withdraw earnings-- it's not worthwhile for me to continue with them as a payment option. Most of my commissions are through Paypal now anyway, which is lovely and I appreciate my commissioners so much for the direct support! But points were a fantastic way to stay in touch with the side of DA I started with and was once a part of: a teen with no money collecting points to commission my favorite artists. It was an opportunity I valued so much, and the art I was able to afford through that option means so much to me, even now, which I why I won't rule them out as an option all together.

But now that the earnings received from point commissions are locked behind a paywall, it's not something I'm interested in contributing to.

Thank you for the support, everyone. I appreciate it more than I could ever express <3

Ahh yeaaa, so here we are, the thing everyone's talking about LOL

I'm very sad to see DA coming to this. I'll be participating in The Sound Of Silence - DA Statement, because for me personally, I don't want to leave DA if I can help it. Of all my platforms, this is the one I've cultivated the most and would be the most devastated to lose, so I really want to try and hold on as long as possible.

But who knows, Eclipse is so dysfunctional and stupid to navigate that I might not have a choice.

SO! If you're jumping ship, feel free to follow me on any of these other platforms.
My Instagram!
My Twitter!
My Tumblr!
My Toyhouse!

Again, DA is my primary platform and I plan to stay as long as possible. I'm not bailing or panicking early, I'll ride it out and see what happens.
Many of my other profiles are empty by comparison, but I'm trying to be more active elsewhere, regardless of what happens. But, should everything go extra sideways, I would be starting from scratch on any/all of these sites and all of my art would be reposted x'D

I know it's been a while coming, but here are the results at long last! Without further delay, off we go!

Honorable mention:
Nobody

We absolutely loved the idea behind this, telling the story of Shard- and by extension, Nicole- and how they come to terms with what they are, both separately and together. It's a sweet and impactful little comic strip and we loved the limited pieces of dialogue to really cement that. The lighting is also particularly eye catching here- it's very vibrant and deliberate.

Nobody

The painterly feel of this piece is just so good. It's very colorful and vibrant and I loved the little touch of Shard being plugged into the computer, and his conscious being aware of the world outside the screen. It was a humorous little touch that landed quite well! It's a cute little metaphor for their world versus the 'other one' and has a sweet little story element about it for that.

Third
Nobody

We loved the casual, normal feel of this piece. It really felt like the embodiment of our initial idea- sweet and mundane life as seen through the eyes of two robots. The little details really make the piece, from the binary code on the pillow to the little Gameboy on the floor, to the pictures of the two of them on the walls and just the snippet of the chess board in the corner. The style really reflected this, with it's almost chalky lineart and soft coloring, it feels homey. We felt like it really took the idea into account and ran with it, hence why we loved it so much. Amazing work!

This really is a highlight of your gallery, Lizard! As frequently as you pop up in my inbox, this was an amazing treat from you. We thought it was abundantly clear how much work you poured into this piece to really make it stand out, and it most definitely worked! The shading is crisp, the poses are fun and the expressions are sweet and accurate. But the real highlight of this entry are the designs and the textures, particularly in the background. That really solidified to us how much you accounted for in your idea, in making the focus not so much a story but a fairytale. I feel like there is an entirely other side of this piece that is so interesting, like the knight and the wizard variants of Shard and Nicole have an entire tale of their own and that is exactly the way we wanted to feel about this contest. It's wonderfully achieved here, so excellent work! <3

Oh Finik you and your vivid imagination! The moment we saw this, we absolutely loved the idea. Taking advantage of the time of year and using it to create a unique take on the story idea was lovely. It really stood out in the crowd and we were just captured by it. The technique is fantastic. It's vivid and crisp and full of energy and emotion, and how you accomplish these things with markers I just don't understand, but it's amazing. The expressions are wonderfully portrayed and you've really captured their characters and it's all just fun to look at and read. We loved the creativity with portraying the digital world and making it so much more foreboding and intimidating than it is usually seen, and the cleverness in extending Shard's hand was a great, entertaining, and unique touch. Excellent work Finik, and congrats!
